To-dos

The suggestion inbox

Action items wait until you add or dismiss them. Pick several at once and merge, group or accept them.

The inbox is the review step between a meeting and your to-do list. Suggestions are not to-dos yet: each one sits in the meeting's summary until you accept it or dismiss it, so nothing arrives on your list that you did not agree to.

How to use it

Open a meeting and look at the action items under the summary.

ActionHow
Pick one suggestionClick the row; it is tinted, and there are no checkboxes to hunt for
Pick several⌘-click or ⇧-click additional rows
Accept oneThe + button on the row (tooltip "Add to to-dos (A)")
Dismiss oneThe ✕ button on the row (tooltip "Dismiss (D)")
Work on the selectionA bar appears once two rows are picked: "N selected", Merge, Group, Add to to-dos, Dismiss, Clear
Clear the selectionClear, or Esc
  • Merge combines the selected suggestions into one to-do.
  • Group makes one parent with the selected items as sub-items.
  • Add to to-dos turns every selected suggestion into its own to-do.

Accepted items become rows in the To-dos list (see To-dos). Dismissed items do not.

Settings

There is no settings page for the inbox. Two related settings live elsewhere:

What is stored

ItemWhere
Suggestions you have not decided onThe meeting's summary.json
Suggestions you acceptedRows in ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/workspace.sqlite3
Suggestions you dismissedNot added to the workspace

A suggestion is never a to-do until you accept it, so dismissing one leaves the to-do list untouched.

What leaves your Mac

Nothing. Adding and dismissing suggestions are local edits.

When it is off or fails

  • A meeting with no summary: there are no suggestions to review; write the summary first (see Summaries and action items).
  • A duplicate-looking to-do: the app asks "Looks like … in your to-dos" with Add anyway and Skip, rather than adding a second copy silently.
  • A meeting moved to the Trash: the to-dos made from it stay.
  • Several similar items: Merge is the quickest fix, and it keeps the meeting link.
