Storage & sharing

Where your meetings and speech models are kept on the Mac, and the team folder that shares only the meetings you choose.

The Storage & sharing page shows where your meetings and speech models live on this Mac, and sets up the one way meetings are shared: a team folder you choose.

Meetings folder

Every meeting is one folder of plain files on this Mac: the two audio tracks, the transcript, your notes and the summary. The path is shown with Reveal in Finder. It is fixed; there is nothing to choose.

Good to know: there is no retention timer. A meeting stays until you move it to the Trash, which takes its whole folder (see Meeting history).

Team folder

Off until you choose one: the row says "Not set — nothing is shared". Choose… picks a folder your team already syncs or shares. Your name on shared meetings is the name teammates see. Reveal in Finder opens the folder; Stop using stops future sharing and leaves the copies already there.

Only meetings you share are copied there — the summary and the transcript, never the audio. You share a meeting by right-clicking it and choosing Share to Team Folder. Teammates' shared meetings appear in your Meetings list, read-only.

When to change it: when your team wants each other's notes without sending files around.

If it fails: with no folder chosen, sharing is unavailable. A folder that is still syncing is left alone until it has been quiet for a moment, so a half-copied meeting never shows up. More on Share through a team folder.

Model storage

Where the speech models are kept, with Manage… to download, delete or show them in Finder. Deleting a model you do not use frees its space; it can be downloaded again later.

For the curious

  • Meetings: ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Meetings/<meeting>/ — audio.wav and system.wav (16 kHz mono), meeting.md, notes.md, summary.md, summary.json, meta.json and, if on, screens/. The full list is on Recording a meeting.
  • Speech models: ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Models. Models found in ~/whisper.cpp/models or ~/Library/Application Support/Whisper are used where they are, not moved.
  • A shared meeting is a folder named from the date, the title and the sharer, holding meeting.json, summary.md and transcript.md. Each share or update rewrites it from scratch.
  • The team folder is checked every 30 seconds, and a folder must be quiet for 3 seconds before it is read.
  • With the encrypted vault on, the kinds you chose are stored sealed in the same folders. A team-folder share is a deliberate output and is not encrypted.

What leaves your Mac

PrivateGoat itself uploads nothing. It writes only into the team folder you chose; if that folder is synced by a service, that service copies the text. Audio and call-window pictures are never copied.
