Share through a team folder

Summary and transcript go into a folder your team already syncs. Never the audio, and PrivateGoat uploads nothing.

Sharing uses a folder both sides can see — a synced team folder, a network share, anything you already use. PrivateGoat writes the summary and the transcript into it and reads what teammates put there. It never copies audio, and it makes no network request of its own: whatever syncs the folder does the moving.

How to use it

  1. Choose the folder once: Settings → Meetings → Team folder → Choose…. Set Your name on shared meetings in the same place; that name is what teammates see.
  2. Right-click a meeting on the Meetings page → Share to Team Folder.
  3. Later, the same menu offers Update Shared Copy (rewrites the copy) and Stop Sharing (deletes the copy from the folder).
  4. Teammates' meetings appear by themselves. A meeting from the same day that overlaps one of yours by at least five minutes — or half the shorter recording, whichever is less — appears under yours as "Also recorded by Mara"; anything else lands under Shared with you on the Meetings page and on the Timeline. Open one and you get the summary and the transcript, read-only.

The app watches the team folder and rechecks every 30 seconds. A folder that is still syncing is left alone until it has been quiet for 3 seconds, so a half-copied meeting never shows up.

What is stored

ItemWhere
Shared copyA folder named from the date, the title and the sharer, inside the team folder
meeting.jsonTimes, topics and who shared it, with a content hash
summary.md, transcript.mdThe summary and the transcript
Your local meetingUnchanged, in ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Meetings/

Each Share to Team Folder and Update Shared Copy deletes the existing shared folder and writes a new one from scratch. The meeting.json carries a content hash, but it is only written, never compared: a rewrite happens whether or not the meeting changed. The team-folder path and the sharer name are kept in app preferences.

What leaves your Mac

PrivateGoat itself uploads nothing. It writes only into the folder you chose; if that folder is inside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or a network share, that service copies the text off the Mac. Audio is never copied — not the WAV tracks, and not call screenshots.

When it is off or fails

  • No team folder configured: Share is disabled and Settings says nothing is shared.
  • A shared meeting: it is read-only. Editing happens in the owner's copy.
  • Stop using a folder: this stops future sharing but does not delete copies already in the folder.
  • A folder that is still syncing: its meetings are skipped until the folder has been quiet for 3 seconds.
  • The sync service stops: nothing is lost locally; the files simply stop moving.
  • Confidentiality: the copies are protected by the folder's own sync service, not by PrivateGoat.
