Playback and corrections
Play both tracks with the transcript following along, and fix a misheard word once so later meetings get it right.
Playback lets you check what was actually said without leaving the transcript, and a correction fixes a name or a term at the source: once, for every occurrence in this meeting, and optionally for every meeting after it.
How to use it
Playback. Open a meeting → Transcript tab → the playback bar above the text.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Play / pause | Space |
| Speed | 1× or 1.5×, with pitch preserved |
| Mute a track | Click the track's mute control |
| Solo a track | ⌥-click the track |
| Seek | Click anywhere on the waveform |
The two tracks play in sync, the line being spoken is highlighted and followed, and a waveform gutter runs beside the text.
Correcting a word. Select or right-click the word in the transcript → Correct (or press ⌘E), type the right spelling, then tick what should happen:
- Fix the occurrence in this meeting — the smallest fix; with several matches the box reads Fix all N in this meeting and replaces the whole word throughout.
- Remember the correct spelling — adds it to the words the transcriber expects, so later meetings get it right (see Words and terms).
- Fix it automatically from now on — stores the rule and applies it to new lines as they are written.
After a fix, the transcript header may offer also in N earlier meetings — review…, which opens a sheet where you tick the meetings you want rewritten.
Finding a line. The transcript has a find field, and optional clock times can be shown next to each line.
Settings
Playback has no settings. Corrections feed Settings → Dictation → Vocabulary → Words and Terms…, and a remembered spelling can be reviewed or removed there.
What is stored
corrections.json in the meeting folder records each applied correction and its count, which is also how
an applied correction is taken back (with the inverse rule, or with the transcript header's Undo for
the last one). A remembered spelling goes into the learned list, not into the meeting.
| Item | Where |
|---|---|
| Applied corrections | ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Meetings/<meeting>/corrections.json |
| Remembered spellings | ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Workspace/LearnedVocabulary.json |
| Your own words | ~/Library/Application Support/Sonavia/Workspace/Vocabulary.txt |
| Audio for playback | audio.wav and system.wav in the meeting folder |
What leaves your Mac
Nothing. Playback reads the meeting's own WAV files, and a correction is a local text edit.
When it is off or fails
- A meeting with no audio: there are no playback controls.
- A different word containing the same letters: it is never changed. Corrections are exact, case-preserving whole-word matches, with no fuzzy or phonetic matching — which is why a correction is predictable.
- Taking a correction back: apply the inverse rule stored with it, press Undo in the transcript header for the last one, or correct the word again.
- A word you corrected but did not remember: the next meeting will transcribe it the old way again.
